****NEIGHBORHOOD (Marais)****
The apartment is in the rue des Rosiers in the heart of Paris, in the old Jewish quarter, well know for its restaurants and more recently for its very fashionable clothes shops.
It is in the historical heart of Paris and there are many museums within a short walk: Musée Picasso, Musée Cognac-Jay, Musée Carnavalet, Jewish Museum, Hotel de Sully, the Archives Nationales and the Bibliothèque Historique de Paris.
Walking around the area you will find aristocratic mansions with secret gardens and squares with ancient statues. For antique lovers, there is the antique market in the Village Saint-Paul.
The Marais is an area full of contrasts with not only the Jewish quarter, but also the gay quarter in the rue Sainte Croix de la Bretonnerie, not to mention the night life of La Bastille about ten minutes walk away. The beautiful aristocratic houses of the place des Vosges are just a short walk and the Pompidou Centre, Notre Dame cathedral and the Ile Saint-Louis are only ten minutes away.
****DESCRIPTION****
When you enter this apartment on the 2nd floor of the ancient building in the historic Maris in Paris centre, you are immediatly impressed by the extravagant luxury.
As you look around, you will be astounded by the high ceilings with ancient oak beams, the immense windows and the baroque elegance of the decoration.
Every detail, ensuring a perfect harmony of delicate violet hues in the panelled walls and upholstery, but also in the curtains, chandelier and tiled niche that was formerly a fireplace.
The floor is tiled with ancient terra cotta “tomettes” and on the walls hang seventeenth-century Italian paintings.
The sumptuous settee converts into an extremely comfortable queen size bed (W160 cm). Around a large, round, glass-topped table suitable for a banquet are four comfortable upholstered chairs. A wrought iron lamp and two armchairs complete the decoration while the flat screen cable TV with DVD player, Hi-Fi, high-speed Internet connection with WIFI and telephone add a modern touch.
A contemporary stairway leads to the low mezzanine which has a mirrored chest of draws and a double bed (W140 cm).
The modern kitchen is equipped with an oven/microwave, 4 vitro-ceramic hotplates, fume hood, refrigerator with integrated freezer, washing machine, electric kettle, coffee machine and toaster.
The bathroom is tiled in the same delicate violet tones as the kitchen and lounge and has a spacious shower, washbasin, mirror, hair dryer and toilet.
In the entrance hall there are spacious wardrobes to store your clothes during your stay.
All sheets and towels are provided.
